Summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Dan Brown makes his picture book debut with this mindful, humorous, musical, and uniquely entertaining book!

Travel through the trees and across the seas with Maestro Mouse and his musical friends! Young readers will meet a big blue whale and speedy cheetahs, tiny beetles and graceful swans。 Each has a special secret to share。

Along the way, you might spot the surprises Maestro Mouse has left for you-a hiding buzzy bee, jumbled letters that spell out clues, and even a coded message to solve!

Children and adults can enjoy this timeless picture book as a traditional read-along, or can choose to listen to original musical compositions as they read-one for each animal-using a free interactive smartphone app which uses augmented reality to instantly play the appropriate song for each page when the camera of a mobile device is held over it。

This was so fun to read with my nephew and explo by myself。 I see us getting lots of use out of it for years to come。My only complaint is that I can't get my phone's camera to recognize the picture to start the songs "on command"。 So glad they have the arrow buttons and also the animal drop down list to choose from。 This was so fun to read with my nephew and explo by myself。 I see us getting lots of use out of it for years to come。My only complaint is that I can't get my phone's camera to recognize the picture to start the songs "on command"。 So glad they have the arrow buttons and also the animal drop down list to choose from。 。。。more

Children's interactive picture book, told mostly in rhyme。 This is one of those books that defies easy classification-- the words read like poetry, but each animal's verse has a moral at the end。 The illustrations make it seem like a picture book, but it was originally released as a music cassette and has a full orchestral score available (orchestra performances available online, and an app that can play along with the book。 Unfortunately there is no self-contained CD or audio player)。 On one ha Children's interactive picture book, told mostly in rhyme。 This is one of those books that defies easy classification-- the words read like poetry, but each animal's verse has a moral at the end。 The illustrations make it seem like a picture book, but it was originally released as a music cassette and has a full orchestral score available (orchestra performances available online, and an app that can play along with the book。 Unfortunately there is no self-contained CD or audio player)。 On one hand, it would be a great activity for a music class in elementary school-- the various animal poems are accompanied by instrumental pieces。 It could be used to discuss musical elements like tempo and dynamics, or to introduce instruments of the orchestra。 It could even tie into writing by having students write their own animal poem and accompanying moral。 I just felt like the book was trying to do too many things at once, and personally would have preferred having the music contained in the book and not having the morals to finish each verse。 。。。more

Good poetry collection and pictures; I liked the mouse’s advice, too

I guess what I didn’t like was the gimick and selfpromotionthatI feltfrom this。 I am sure it will do well with adults but the preachiness may not appeal to kids。

My toddler is obsessed with this book! We borrowed it from the library, and she *constantly* asks for my phone, so she can listen to the music while she looks at the pictures。 Truth be told, we’ve only actually read through the text of the book twice。 The music and illustrations are the real magic for her!

A fun addition to the poetry tub, especially with the music you can download that sets a tone for each poem。

Such a fun book! We noticed the letters on each page and unscrambled them after reading the whole thing。 Then we went to the website and listened to the Croatian orchestra perform。 Such a fantastic lesson for this homeschooling family!

I'm struggling with a rating here。 This book, the hidden letters, along with the music app, and a video of the orchestra playing kept us (myself, 3 and 5 year old) busy for almost 3 hours。 The addition of the morals is super distracting and unnecessary。 I think there are some inconsistencies with the hidden words/answers on the following pages too。 We had so much fun, the littles learned so much about the orchestra, though I'm not sure they even knew there were poems in the book。 I'm struggling with a rating here。 This book, the hidden letters, along with the music app, and a video of the orchestra playing kept us (myself, 3 and 5 year old) busy for almost 3 hours。 The addition of the morals is super distracting and unnecessary。 I think there are some inconsistencies with the hidden words/answers on the following pages too。 We had so much fun, the littles learned so much about the orchestra, though I'm not sure they even knew there were poems in the book。 。。。more

I felt this was a LONG picture book! I also think that the music must be played or the book doesn't prove its final point at the end。 I appreciate the little moral tips at the end of each poem。 Verdict: Cute, but long。 It is probably more enjoyable if the music is used along with the book。 I felt this was a LONG picture book! My grandchildren LOVED this book and wanted to play the music over and over。 Once they knew to look for hidden letters in the art, they poured over the pages。 This is a great book to share with children and a way to introduce music and instruments。 Highly recommended。

Simply fantastic。 Wonderfully written and the music read an experience my kids wanted to take over and over again。 The lessons were clear and easily and readily discussed and understood。 Will but this as a gift for others。。。。 It's that good。 Simply fantastic。 Wonderfully written and the music read an experience my kids wanted to take over and over again。 The lessons were clear and easily and readily discussed and understood。 Will but this as a gift for others。。。。 It's that good。 。。。more

This is an ingenious multimedia experience。 There’s a QR code to listen to orchestral movements that go along with each animal featured in the book。 The animals each have a little poem about them, along with a life lesson we humans could apply to ourselves。

It isn’t really fair to call this a “book” since it is a riddle, a puzzle, and a concert rolled into one! Best to be savored a little at a time for littles, but the older ones devoured it in one sitting。

This book was really fun。 It comes with a music app to accompany the book。 I really liked the life messages on every page! There is also amazing pictures

This book was suggested for the Library to purchase。 I took it home this week to really experience it fully。 The first time through I just read the words and the rhymes were ok。 The second time through I did the music and the book ; it was a wonderful adventure。 Before returning it to the Library I did the full experience again。 I am thinking about using this book and music in a Storytime this summer。

I LOVED the poems that make up this book and the little lessons in each of them。 I had so much fun reading it and I would definitely select this book for a storytime

My kids really like this。 I think they like the multi-media aspect of listening to music through the book's app at the same, which I find annoying。 And there's a lot (too much for me) going on - the hidden letters, the music, the poems, and trite little aphorisms on each page。 The illustrations are nice though! A cruel trick to play on parents at bedtime: download the free app to listen to each of the original two-minute songs to accompany each poem, and a twenty-page picture book becomes a 45-minute production。
